Gaza Hell

An eye-witness report of the brutality of the Israeli Defence Forces in the Gaza strip, in particular the assault of the Jabalya refugee camp is devastating reading. Once again the number of Palestinians (the majority of which are civilians including women and children) vastly exceeds the abominable killings of Israeli civilians using home made rockets that triggered the Israeli invasion.

The so-called “right to defend itself” that Israel claims in responding to these horrific rocket attacks should allow Israel to fire back at rocket launch sites. But in this invasion of Jabalya using tanks and helicopters, together with the use of Caterpillar bulldozers to destroy homes with little concern for civilians and disproportionate casualties is a form of collective punishment of the Palestinian people and therefore constitutes a war crime.

The Bush, Howard and Blair governments have scratched around for some justification that their Iraq invasion was not a war for control of oil infrastructures, settling on Saddams record of terror against the Kurds, Shiites and marsh Arabs. However the easiest way to stop terrorism is to begin by stopping funding it and condoning it in Israel.
