Greg Palast once again nails the issue. Much hand wringing by the giant jellyfish that is the corporate media over the jailing of Judith Miller is really just to cover how corrupt and obedient to elite interests it really is. Miller is already responsible for the deaths of thousands of Iraqis and U.S. service people for being an uncritical stenographer for the Bush administration, purposefully parroting the administrations known lies, despite 15 million people across the world publicly protesting the egregious crimes the administration was carrying out. Any decent journalist would have engaged in some form of critical, intelligent canvassing of the entire spectrum of the war debate, but not Miller.

As Palast points out, Miller spoke with Rove, in full knowledge that Rove was aiming to destroy a real whistleblower, Joe Wilson. Miller understood the implications, this was the presidents operative, a man with a documented history of unethical and corrupt behaviour in order to further his masters agenda, attempting to smear a credible contrarian view to the Bush war mantra. Ultimately Miller’s imprisonment is less an attack on the “free” press, and more the just deserts of sycophantic secret dealings between corporate elites to manufacture lies.
