Aristede Being Held Against His Will

It’s increasingly clear that Aristede was forcibly removed from office. This is despite efforts by the corporate press to paint a rosy picture of the situation in Haiti, talking up the anti-Aristede protests, while downplaying the pro-Aristede protests.

It’s increasingly clear that Aristede was forcibly removed from office. This is despite efforts by the corporate press to paint a rosy picture of the situation in Haiti, talking up the anti-Aristede protests, while downplaying the pro-Aristede protests. In particular, anti-Aristede protests are reported to be large, while pro-Aristede protests (roughly equal in size) are noted for being several days after the foreign military arrived, never once considering that pro-Aristede protesters feared for their lives since Guy Philippe was making claims to be in charge of the military and it took several days for pro-Aristede factions to feel the the security situation was under control by the foreigners to protest.

A delegation from the U.S. travelled to the Central African Republic attempting to meet Aristede, but were refused contact with the President, including the request to speak with him by telephone or to pass notes to him. This indicates the lie being told by the Bush administration that he willingly left and is seeking asylum in the C.A.R.
